• The model I purchased Insignia 5.0 cubic foot deep freezer, needed to be defrosted about every 3 to 6 months depending on frost build up. The freezer has a drain hole at the bottom, you will have to turn the freezer off connect a hose to the drain, then put the hose in a floor drain or bucket etc for the melted ice to drain. Hope this helps. You can also look on U Tube just put your freezer make in the look up with question how to defrost.
