We had ours set at 5.5 and the beer was really cold.

When first turning on the unit, set it to the max setting of 6 and let it sit for 24 hours. Place a cup of water in the fridge and check the temp after 24 hours. If too cold, turn the dial down a step or two until it stabilized where you want it to be. Adding an external LCD temp gauge for fish tanks was a cheap and easy way to monitor the internal temp without having to open the door. Just push the probe wire through the hole in the back for the co2 line and attach the LCD display to the side with the provided suction cup..
