• If you turn it off, it stays off. If you turn it on, then the fan will stop and start as needed to keep the humidity at the level you select.

• Yes, either to the auto “comfort mode” level which is around 55% when it triggers it to come on, or to a preset % you choose. Comfort mode is great for this.
