The "side" of the TV is actually behind the TV. There is around 6 inches between the plugs and the edge of the TV. Your cord will not be visible.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The digital optical audio out comes out of the back of the TV about two-thirds of the way in in the direction of the side, but it is high enough up and deep enough in that you cannot see it because it bends back around. Mine goes to a Sony receiver with 5.1 surround and rear speakers built into the ceiling and when sitting in front of my TV I cannot see the audio optical cable. -Eric
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is nicely placed on the back/center. If you are using optical even better. Good luck
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The sideways pointing connections on the back are actually about 6 to 9 inches in from the side of the TV so using a fiber audio cable to go to my home theater system it was easy to route to the rear were all the other cables (power, 3 hdmi's, video, all tied together to route into a cable conduit to hide them without any problems.
