If the TV has a optical audio output and the soundbar has an optical audio input then, yes the cable should be able to be used. If either does not have the optical port, then to use the optical cable, you would need one or two analogue to optical converters. Also, each time ANY signal goes through a converter, there signal will lose some quality.
