• If you use Windows Easy transfer, both PCs must be on the same network (and this cable is not required). See ( http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-use-easy-transfer-in-windows-7.html ) for more detail. To use the cable, you should use the software provided. Then both PCs need not be on the same network.
