“We live in the country in the Upper Pennisula of Michigan, so we know the number of FM channels are limited and also the reciever is in a metal pole building ( work shop) would this work or should I go to an outside antenna?”

I live in a metal roofed house. FM is really reduced, but the Insignia took several weak stations and made them clear or at least listenable. External antenna would no doubt to more for me, but the hassle factor and a long cable run to radio ruled that out.
