“Is this compatible to charge any rechargeable batteries or just the ones it comes with? If it is only compatible with the batteries it comes with, can you buy additional batteries?”

Only the type that comes with it. It’s like two double a batteries fused together. I bought three total so I swap those in and out but they’re all the same.
