A:AnswerXbox One S will work with Xbox One S only... same goes for the X and so on. I bought the one for the X because it was on sale and didn't pay attention to the model. I had to return it and get the correct one for my particular Xbox model.

A:AnswerOnly the type that comes with it. It’s like two double a batteries fused together. I bought three total so I swap those in and out but they’re all the same.
A:AnswerYes, the front USB 3.0 port on the Xbox One S is an 'Always-on' port. So with the product plugged into that port (which is the one it is designed to be plugged into) it will charge the batteries even with the Xbox off. I am not sure whether the power mode (such as 'instant-on') will affect this. You can easily check if you plug your phone into the port and it will charge regardless of the Xbox's power mode.
A:AnswerI recommend taking it out letting it cool putting in the other charge port seeing what happens Don't leave it in if it gets that hot if you can't touch it unplug the entire system.
A:AnswerI hope you didn't do the cable. I have to replace the plug in cord version after about a month. The cord started falling apart. To answer your question there is no issues with the heat. I have not removed mine since the day it was purchased. The recharge time isn't long and you can do 2 batteries at once. It's a usb connection so the amount of heat being generated is minimal. To make sure I wasn't lying to you I touched it while typing this review. The usb charge option is really the best in my opinion. Hope that helps.
