I hope you didn't do the cable. I have to replace the plug in cord version after about a month. The cord started falling apart. To answer your question there is no issues with the heat. I have not removed mine since the day it was purchased. The recharge time isn't long and you can do 2 batteries at once. It's a usb connection so the amount of heat being generated is minimal. To make sure I wasn't lying to you I touched it while typing this review. The usb charge option is really the best in my opinion. Hope that helps.
