• You do not have to buy the entire unit. They do sell battery packs themselves that fit.

• You don't have to buy a whole new unit, unless you want the white rechargeable batteries. You can get black ones here, and they should work with the unit: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/insignia-rechargeable-battery-pack-for-xbox-one/3511386.p?skuId=3511386 As long as you don't mind them being black instead of white.
