• I'm using it with an amplified antenna by Insignia. In fact, that's why I purchased the Insignia converter box.

• As far as I understand it, it only converts an air signal so older TV's can view the current local TV signal. You would still need a satellite box for that signal. You do need an antennae for the air signal.
