• This happened to me as well. My car was off for about 4 days and it happened. I think there is a rechargeable battery that retains this memory and when it is off for some time it clears out the time and resets to default

• The internal battery has to have some charge in order to retain the date. Remove the dashcam feom the vehicle and charge up the battery to fully charge by using a cell phone power adapter. Hope this helps.
