• Seeing that you posted this 2 months ago you may already have found your answer. If you use and subscribe to sling, Hulu live, or directtvnow, you can get the local channels without an antenna as you would stream through the app.

• You do not need a high end antenna for T.V unless you do not have cable, Satellite, or a connection for coax cable to the wall and to the T.V. Most apartments or houses have the coax connection and if not it is recommended to get a good antenna for better view with channels.
