No, the microphone will not work without using hte adapter.

Please try again later.Any headsets with mic ,witch have 4.5mm connector with 4 conduits,must be connected throuth splitter ,coz the PC have two INDEPENDET sockets - stereo output ( three conduit -Lch,Rch,Grnd) and mic input two or three9 conduit(if it stereo),witch connected between only by ground. So,you need :Or rebuild your PC headphones output - change it for 4 conduit socket and connect a positive mic wire to this unit; Or buy the wire splitter for headphones jack to connect speakers and microphone to different sockets So,the answer to your question - NO!!!! usually the mic is not working.
