yes... plug them into the headphone out on your tv not the line out

These earphones allow you to hear the TV at a volume comfortable for you, without regard to the volume that is playing from the TV unit. I bought these for a relative in a nursing home. He shares a room with someone else. These headphones allow him to block the sound from the other person's TV while be able to listen to his own clearly.
