Is this used to connect a dvd player to a smart tv? null

I use it to connect an older camera with RCA outputs to an HDMI video switcher. It works great in converting RCA to HDMI and the picture is the same as a separate link that uses Firewire, so I have noticed any losses. I would imagine a DVD would not be an issue since the signals are the same. .
