“We have Direct TV and we want to add another tv to the main box. will this RF Modulator do the trick. Both TVs are older TV's”

You could use this modulator to convert the red/white/yellow outputs on the DirecTV box into a coaxial output. This potentially would allow you to connect a second TV but the box has to be capable of sending out two signals. Also keep in mind that if the same box is feeding two TVs, they will display the same image.
