You can probably use a third party remote but not just your TV remote

And at hight especially I'm always digging for that remote because my Apple TV remote controls the volume to a certain extent but if you want a drastic change in volume or even if you have music or channels that are louder you will need the other remote.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Some TVs have the option to control the volume they send out to external audio devices. I would recommend speaking to your TV manufacturer to see if your TV is capable of this, if not you would need to use two remotes.
