I just purchased an open box 2019 16" MacBook Pro and ordered this adapter to use for connection to an external hard drive with the USB port and a television with the HDMI port. My laptop has four type-C built in ports, two on each side, and the adaptor does fit the ports — so far I have not had any issues. In fact I kind of wish I had bought more than one so I could connect additional external devices.
