It may be helpful to reset the device. Then put your iPhone on your desired wi-Fi network. Then perform the set up again.

If you are using an Apple TV as a HomeKit hub to get remote access and notifications, make sure that the AppleTV is not set to go to sleep. Also try rebooting the Apple TV by unplugging it for a few seconds then plugging it back in.

If you are using your cellphone, set your cellphone to use the network you want, then long-press the button on the device to repair it. It will then connect to the WiFi your phone is on.
