If your sensor is on a metal door, the sensor may not be able to reliably connect with the controller. I had the same problem. Another review suggested remounting the sensor on a 1/2' thick piece of wood and then to the door. I followed that advice and it works fine. A first test may be to take the sensor off of the door and move toward the controller and see if you get a response. When I did this it started working right away.

Make sure it is connected to your network, and that HomeKit can see it in the home app. They will update it from 2.63.43 to 2.63.51, which has been much more reliable. Also, buy a fresh battery for the door sensor
