• according to the manufacturer your functions, such as locking at night, should still work. unfortunately that function no longer works for me. this was not a deal breaker for me but would like to have that function/option.

• No you cannot. It is purely Apple HomKit driven & managed and there is no OEM app for it like some devices have.
