“When i check my wifi the 2 plugs i have are listed as open ( not secured with any password ) how safe can this be if anyone can log on to the device, Is there a way to make these more secure?”

Mine are registered under a Best Buy account with my chosen password. I would think that someone else trying to sync my units to their phone would not be able to do that because mine are already uniquely registered to my account. Each unit has a different serial number. Someone else could come in and actually turn off the lamps that I control, thereby making the smart plug useless, but the same thing could be done with any kind of timer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.In order to add smartplug/device to your Insignia device list - you must first put the unit into search/connect/disconnect mode. That's the only time the device is discoverable. If the LED indicator is flashing the smartplug is in search mode and discoverable. When LED is solid green you should not be able to add device to device list. Hope this helps.
