Reasons could be numerous but most likely a matter of conflict during IP renewal by the router. Recommended setting the smart plug on a static IP to solve your issue.

It make be a channel issue if you have neighbors pushing their wifi on the same channels. There's apps you van download to check the channel usage around you, I liked Wifi Analyser by farproc.
