- Answer CPUs don't determine what kind of hard disk you can use. That's all on the motherboard connections. This is a 12th gen and most 12th gen motherboards are SATA and can use any SSD as well as M2 which is actually faster. So the answer to your question is check the motherboard you want to put this in.
