If you are having issues due to disk performance (zone loading, or your loging damage per second stats) then you might want an SSD to replace the harddrive. Most first person shooters have issues because of the video card and main memory speeds. You'll have to see if your motherboard in that laptop can even take an i9. Also some of the issues with a gaming laptop is heat. As the heat builds up the processing speed goes down to protect the processor and video cards, so if you're not able to move that head out of the laptop fast enough that could cause some of your performance issues. I typically don't go for a gaming laptop any more and have been using desktop midsized towers. See pic attached. i9, 32gigs of ram, 1tb ssd, RTX2080 super. It rocks haven't seen lag in any fps, rpg, or other games. I've even been running with docker images, and virtual machines running on it at the same time.
