It's easy. You create your backup in your current version. Install the software and it converts the company file when you open it in the new version. Now, I did have a problem with my first purchase through bestbuy online. So when I got the new software this time I did a chat from intuit's website and asked if my key was valid. The tech actually associated the new key to my account and it was all good. If you buy from the store, I'm sure it would be fine. If from online, you may have to call or chat if the software key wasn't sent over to intuit indicating it was paid for.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Running the new install for the new version will take care of backing up your old data. The new version will retain all the accounting and payroll information from the old Company File for you. You need to call QB though to cancel your old subscription and activate your new one to use the new free year of service for one employee.
