The Deluxe version is not meant for independent contractors or for working on a commission basis. The version that is needed is the Intuit Turbo Tax for Home & Business.

Deluxe works fine for an independent contractor. I'm a Realtor and all the forms are there. I've used it for years in my business.

If you are self-employed there is a section in the Deluxe version for you to put in income and expenses for that circumstance. Try going to the FAQ of Turbo Tax, they may give you a better feel for which to use.
