• It takes a firm pull to break the seal where the arm telescopes in but that is all

• You just pull the magnet forward and the arm extends. It does not extend particularly far and it is covered in lubricant.

• The telescopic arm uses a friction lock, so it really is just a matter of pulling it out. It's normal for it to feel like it won't extend at first, it takes a bit of strength to extend it the first time.
