USB 3.0 ports can be identified by checking the Device Manager. You can also identify the physical ports on your computer which will either be blue, or marked with a “SS” (SuperSpeed) logo. The device manufacturer website should also have information on the type of USB ports your device has installed. How to check Device Manager: 1. Right click the Start button. 2. Select Device Manager from list. (alternative route - Press “Windows Key + R” to open the run “Command.” Type “devmgmt.msc” and click OK) 3. Click drop down for Universal Serial Bus Controller. 4. Look for USB 3.0 or USB 3.1 to identify if they are present. USB 3.0 is backward compatible with USB 2.0, the major differences is data transfer speed and power management, but this docking adapter will work with both types of USB ports.
