- Answer We do not recommend using an extension cable with the USB-C Dual HDMI Mini Dock. We cannot guarantee proper functionality. This Mini Dock requires an installation of a driver and works best when it's connected directly to a computer.

- Answer The JCD381 does not require a separate power source to use as it is bus-powered (powered when connected to the computer). The 'Power In' port you see on it is to charge your computer through there; this is only possible IF the computer supports charging via USB-C.

- Answer Yes, this dock will work with any laptop that has a USB C port. On the end of this docking station is a USB C port. If you plug your charger into that port, this dock will also charge your laptop while connected.

- Answer Yes and NO. The J5Create provides a port to connect your computer power source chord allowing the docking station the ability to continually power your lap top. Plug in power source I use is from the Lenovo lap top which then connects to the J5Create docking station. So the docking station is also continuously powering the Lenovo lap top.

- Answer Yes, this J5Create should work with your ThinkPad. As long as your Thinkpad has a USB-C port it should work. I too work from home and have dual monitors connected to my Lenovo laptop via this docking station. It works like a jewel. I keep MS Outlook up all the time on one monitor and use the second for other work requirements.

- Answer The Ethernet, USB, and pass through charging will work PnP if applicable depending on your Chromebook's specs. The HDMI ports require a driver and we are not compatible with Chrome OS. We do have PnP devices that do not require drivers and if eligible, we can recommend them to you. If interested, feel free to contact support on the packaging and a representative will be able to look up the specs for your computer and find something for you that will work.

- Answer Using a USB-A to USB-C adapter is not recommended and likely will not work, as USB-A ports do not support the power and data capabilities needed for this dock to function, particularly for video output through HDMI. The USB-C Dual HDMI Mini Dock will also require a native USB-C port with Power Delivery (PD) to operate correctly.
