Yep, mine gets really hot. Not sure why but it doesn't seem to be "unsafe." Just seems to be inefficient.

The JCD383 can become slightly warm due to electricity passing through it, however, if it is becoming too hot, we recommend exchanging it.

Yes, particularly when using the power port. It gets warm when using HDMI, but not what I would consider to be hot to the touch.

Yup. Since there is power running through the device, some heat will be generated during any use. It's normal.

Yes, mine could fry an egg and occasionally the ethernet or  hdmi, or a usb port will stop working for a few hours.  Normally is it one of them randomly,
