“Do these become totally useless when the battery goes dead? All rechargeable batteries Will start losing their charging capability and eventually Die. Is there a way to replace this battery when it dies?... Or does the whole unit need to be replaced?”

Batteries are not replaceable. Unit would be dead and need replacing.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The batteries are not easily replaceable however, the USB type C cables can remain plugged in as an alternative power source
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.They are charged by usb ports. When batteries are out, you won't be able to adjust the weights but still can use them. You can easily adjust weights again once they are recharged.
