“2 Questions: 1) How can such a small radio hold 4 C batteries, plus hold the wound up cord in the back? Just curious. 2) Is this really a digital tuner? It looks like a basic knob that you turn to get the stations. Thanks!”

It has a small compartment for the cord and another for the batteries. C batteries aren’t as big as your mind thinks (I was thinking D size in my head) C is quite smaller. We have a special needs adult who can’t sleep without a radio so we bought this in the event on power outage and have tested it out. It works just as well as his alarm clock radio(thankfully. The tuner is great. Delicate enough to grab the “in between” stations a digital would pass right by. You can fine tune it. I consider it a great buy for what we need.

Please try again later.1) If the cord is carefully wound it will fit in the back compartment with the 4 C batteries in place. 2) You turn the knob until your desired station comes in clearly. It doesn't move in small steps like tuning knobs on modern car radios. But this radio has excellent reception and sound.

The stations come in crisp, clear as you move the dial. Not the fade in/out of analog tuners. Very happy with this radio.

I haven't actually used the radio as a "portable," but wanted a battery option for power outages. The station selector is a basic knob, but I don't know if it is digital or not. I have found the station selection to be very crisp and clear.
