• They both work but one can be removed for use when needing one ear uncovered, Like when driving.

• Hi, Yes, both ear phones are active speakers in which you can take calls. In addition, for a more natural office feel, go Mono mode and remove the left earcup so you can focus on work while still being aware. #TeamJLAB
