I agree, it's s\a sloppy fit.  As long as the connectors are in the well of the case the buds will light when placed and then go dormant.

the instructions that come with earbuds are lame.  I highly recommend you go to the JVC website for their thorough user manual and read it twice.
It's not complicated but you do need to understand the functionality of the device.
There isn't a youtube vid that matches these buds.

I have the same problem. You have to put the charging pieces  in first to make sure they're connected then wiggle the loops in.
