If you have a TV like this, you can set the TV to a level that is comfortable to you, and you can connect the headphones which have their own independent volume control. If your TV does not have this kind of a fixed audio output, you may be able to find it on a cable or satellite box, or even an old VCR that is connected to the TV, and you may be able to make the headphones work that way.
