I purchased this to replace a Radio Shack RF wireless headphone that I used for ten years and are no longer available. The RS unit worked GREAT! No static, very long range and locally purchased re-chargeable batteries. The JVC product has lot's of static and half the range of my old unit. The batteries are very hard access and you must by expensive replacement batteries from JVC...what a bummer. Never use the pager function. All things considered the unit does work and the price was right.

I wound up setting the base unit on it's side And the headphones at a 30 degree angle to my head. The sweet spot (where they worked) was+- six inches sideways! Took them back and got the Sony MDR-RF985RK.. Amazing difference.

I am a professional broadcaster, so I'm rather picky about sound quality. These headphones were a very pleasant surprise. They have a nice low end you don't normally get with wireless headphones in this price range. I use them for listening to tv and they are the best I've ever heard. The range is such that I can walk throughout the house and still hear everything. The only negative in my opinion is that they require rechargeable batteries. These batteries need a 30 hour initial charge and must be recharged for a few hours after about 10 hours of use. Replacements must be JVC brand. However the manufacturer claims the provided batteries will last through 500 charges. So you would only need to replace them after about 5000 hours of use.

A:AnswerYes, in fact--I have a pair which is used the exact same way. But there is something you need to look for on your TV: Your TV needs to have a fixed audio output. That means, a pair of RCA connectors (generally white and red) that output sound no matter what the actual volume level on the TV is set at. If you have a TV like this, you can set the TV to a level that is comfortable to you, and you can connect the headphones which have their own independent volume control. If your TV does not have this kind of a fixed audio output, you may be able to find it on a cable or satellite box, or even an old VCR that is connected to the TV, and you may be able to make the headphones work that way.
