Unfortunately you are trusting in technology that is not perfect ... or even perfected. I had one with the same issue, so I thought something was wrong and had it replaced only to have the same issue. It does better in some areas vs. others, which should not be the case given the GPS satellite coverage area is adequate most places in the US. I also noticed it will have problems if my Wi-Fi has problems because it doesn't switch quickly or correctly to the cell signal - which I think is an app issue. Given that, and the fact that if you don't remember to charge it every 30 days (mine won't get to 45 days as advertised), you won't ever find it, I think this is a great idea that was poorly executed.
