Yes, you need to manually empty the water via one of 2 drain ports (one towards the bottom on the rear of the unit, and another in the middle on the rear of the unit). It's really easy, you can also connect an included hose (or your own hose, it has a threaded port that would fit a regular garden hose "female" end) to either port and continuously drain to a bucket or wherever you want the water to drain. Again, its super easy, i reccomend using the hose for continous draining as its just easier to deal with in my opinion.

During dehumidifying modes, remove the drain plug from the back of the unit, install the drain connector (5/8" universal female mender) with a 3/4" hose (locally purchased). For the models without a drain connector, just attach the drain hose to the hole. Place the open end of the hose directly over the drain area in your basement floor Hope this helps! :) -Customer Service Team
