You have a PAIR of these subwoofers? They are rated at 500w rms each, so combined they can handle 1,000w rms in parallel at 2ohms. Your 400w rms amp is under powering them. Your amp is probably gonna run hot if you push it. But tune the amp and subs to avoid distortion and you should be ok. Don't worry about blowing the subs though....lol.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Umm, each setup is a little different so I’ll just tell you my experience. I have (1) 600watt Alpine mono amp going to 1 of these subs. I have my amp set at 50% gain and 45Hz bass boost at various levels. My Pioneer head unit pre-amps up to 50wattRMS. So I have really put it to mine, what will blow this thing is not using a crossover. If your banging away and here a weird tone and some distortion you may wanna play with your EQ and figure out where it was giving you issues. I think the sub is rated from like 10Hz to over a 100Hz. All I know is I push mine hard, more or less I back the gains down just to be able to stand the bass from inside my car LOL. Good luck
