• According to the instructions, 30" to 36" is the recommended clearance from the bottom of the upper cabinet to the stove top, not from the bottom of the microwave to the stove top as some previous answers would imply. That would be insane! I'm 6 feet tall and I would need to use a step ladder. But in my case, we have a 33" clearance which puts us right in the center of the recommended spacing.

• you want to be 30-36" above a oven top. Depending on the range top, if you have a high BTU range you may want to go with a hood, not. over the range microwave.
