No, you won't be able to use this on a countertop because the unit would be off balance and you would not be able to operate it safely including opening and closing the door. It is very heavy and definitely needs to be mounted to the wall cabinet.

Please try again later.Hi Eva, this particular model is an "Over-the-Range" style that has an exhaust fan in the bottom to pull from the cooktop surface so it will not be suitable for just sitting on a shelf. If you are trying to achieve a "Built-In" look by putting the microwave on a shelf, you will need a "countertop" version. Many of them will also have optional trim kits available to give them a more "Built-In" look.
