“1. Should this model have chilled water? 2. My eggs froze in the refrigerator; temp set at 35 degrees. Lettuce frozen as well. 3. The "confirm" button on keypad does nothing.”

Yes, the water should be chilled. There is no way that the temp can be set that low on your 'fridge side. Read your owners manual and put it back to the defaults. The defaults are freezer at zero and the 'fridge side 42.
