• I don’t think so. The installers were very insistent that it be hooked up to hot water. But I don’t see why it matters whether you have a tankless system or not because nobodies water is hot right out of the tap. I let my water run until it turns hot and then start the dishwasher.

• The unit gets water through the cold water pipes, so I believe it has an internal heater since it does sterilize and would need a heater to reach the steam temperature. Kitchenaid is the best source to answer the question.
