This is true the gas has a solenoid that requires power to open, its a safety feature and I love that when you lock the controls the gas cooktop stats off as well great for child safety.

We were also told by Best Buy that you can use the gas range when the power goes out. The unfortunate part is we had a awesome buying experience with Best Buy. It is just frustrating because we bought over $5000 in kitchen appliances so they would match.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You can use your range during an electric outage. You just need to use a lighter like a Bic lighter or a match to light the burner. It's not a big deal.
