What does the word “Artisan” mean in the description? null

It's just a name of the model. In general, "An artisan is someone that works with their hands to create unique, functional and/or decorative items using traditional techniques."

Based on my research the Artisan is a designation used for those Kitchen Aid units that have the 5 quart capacity bowl and come in a number of different colors. If you don't care about color choice or the larger sized bowl then you can save about $50 and buy the classic (which has a 4 1/2 quart bowl and only comes in white).
