“I have an AV system that is adequate. I wish to use these in a separate system for vintage rock. How well do these react to vintage hi output amps. I don't listen to music that loud but could. I am wondering how these would replace my Altec VOTs.”

Acoustically sounding these are great. One of the biggest differences will be thats your highs will be a lot more defined and clearer. I would suggest maybe a powered sub for added bass. The dual eights inch drivers are adequate but a powered sub will definitely enhance your experience. Also be mindful that these are rear ported so to get the best performance they will need to be pulled away from the wall at least 12 inches.

These speakers should not be connected to an amplifier that supplies more then 250 Watts per channel at 8 Ohms. That being said, the R-820F speakers definite have the capability to put out some serious output. This would be a great choice for a simple two-channel set up, that is sure to rock your socks off!
