Why Didn't I Buy These Before????

I had a pair of the old Synergy series of Klipsch's many years ago and couldn't stand them. They were sizzling in the treble and gave me fatigue within a few minutes of listening to them. I've stayed away from Klipsch since then, because not only did I not have a good experience back then, there is a stigma among the audiophile group that the inexpensive Klipsch speakers are not good. I'm here to state that is a mistake! These speakers rock! The treble is not exaggerated like those Synergy's of old but is instead clear and sweet. The bass is apparent and solid but does not overwhelm the rest of the speaker. I am surprised that a speaker with 2-8" woofers can sound so balanced... Right out of the box they sound great, so much better than the ELAC DF6.2 floor standers they replaced. I have them connected to a Yamaha R-N803 stereo receiver capable of 100 watts per channel RMS. I have a list of songs both in hi-res and CD-quality that I like to run through any speakers I get to see how they handle everything from softer tones to grand scale to metal. The first song I listened to was a 24-bit remastering of Fleetwood Mac's "Never Come Back Again" off of their Rumors album. This is strictly an acoustic guitar piece, with several different guitars being strummed in the background with some simple vocals. With some speakers, this song sounds too polite, almost veiled. With others, the high pitches on the guitars when plucked with the pick can be a little intense and cause fatigue. I was worried what the Klipsch's might do with that kind of high-toned intensity. Instead, they impressed me with their balance. The music had just the right amount of bite without being fatiguing. Layers of sound came out of these inexpensive speakers, and they really made the song come alive. The vocals, which at times can be piercing, were instead just perfect. Excited, I switched to a song called "Soolaimon" by Neil Diamond. This song was mixed a little bright, and on certain speakers, I've had to jog the volume down because the vocals get a little hot and fatiguing. The Klipsch's handled this track with aplomb. Not fatiguing at all, and they got loud. Even as high as I could push them with the Yamaha, they took it and I felt like there was more to come if I could handle it. After listening to songs for about an hour, I threw on my ultimate test track, 46 and 2 by Tool. This song has incredible range, from the deep thump of the double kick to the screeching guitars near the end. I've had speakers that just lost it on this track, unable to keep up with the dynamics. Others became so shrill during the climax of the song that I thought my ears were going to bleed. Not the Klipsch's. They pushed this song out there without breaking a sweat. My son and I sat amazed as we listened to them, remembering all the other speakers that had graced our stereo room. It seemed like none of them handled this difficult song as well as the Klipsch's. As you might be able to tell, I really liked these towers. I had opportunities in the past to purchase them but didn't because I was worried that the Klipsch sound would be harsh and unforgiving. That couldn't be further from the truth, these babies are here to stay.

If you want to experience music in a new way, hearing intricate sounds and details of your records that you've never noticed before these are the speakers for you. You feel the music as much as you hear it. When I say they scream, I truly mean it. They hit the highest of the highs, the lowest of the lows and everything in between. I love loud, undistorted music, it truly changes the listening experience, but I haven't even gotten this system over 75% of max volume because it is just so incredibly loud even at 75%. I have the whole Klipsch Reference line running on an Onkyo TX-NR585 and couldn't be more pleased. My home theatre tech was blown away and swore that the setup had to be in the $7,500-10,000 range, when in fact it was less than 1/3 of that. These speakers excel in all genres played, but particularly seem to like rock. They absolutely wail when you play a little Metallica, Van Halen, or Zeppelin. Not to say that fans of electronic, rap, or reggae will be disappointed, you most definitely won't. I listen to it all and am constantly impressed by the performance, clarity and refined, yet raw power. Bulletproof construction and gorgeous design really are just the icing on this beautiful cake. I would put my system up against anyone's with confidence that mine would outperform all, except perhaps someone with more expensive, top of the line, Klipsch gear. Other reputable brands make a decent product, but this is absolutely stellar, not just decent like the plethora of other systems I listened to before making this purchase. This is my 3rd Klipsch surround sound system and I cant stress enough how well they are built. I have all three still, the original of which is almost 15 years old, and they all function perfectly and sound better now than they ever have since they are broken in. These are one of the rare products of today that you could likely pass onto your kids, they are truly that well built. Not plastic garbage like the majority electronics today. You will notice as soon as you try to pick up the box that these bad boys are made of real wood and heavy metal components built to last. All in all these speakers will change the way you experience music in a drastic way regardless of how good you thought your previous method of listening was, be it top of the line headphones, or competitor's surround sound. If you want proof, go listen to them in the store before purchasing. Even the display setup will blow you away. Then you get them home and they exceed your expectations again. I would recommend these to anyone serious about their listening experience, you will not be disappointed. Make sure you give them enough power though, don't try to save money on your receiver otherwise you will be upgrading that component sooner rather than later.

for me, just like a lot of others i’m sure, speakers are a very subjective purchase. some might purchase based on sound quality alone. others might do a ton of research and pick the best rated ones. still others might pick a speaker based on its visual design. i don't personally care about accuracy or design so much as how a speaker makes me feel when i listen to music or watch a movie. i can say this much about these new Klipsches…they have replaced my Polk RTI-A7 speakers in my home theater, and it was a relatively easy choice. of course it’s a matter of personal taste, and some will swear by the Polks. i do love them, but as soon as i fired the Klipsch floors up i knew i had a winner. for home theater, they sound absolutely amazing. tight, punchy, crisp, and of course plenty of volume. good: -sound quality - wow. i come from a long history of Polk speakers, this being my first Klipsch. i’ve never heard highs like this before, almost sparkling they’re so present, and not in a fatiguing way. these have been an amazing addition to my home theater. the previous Polks were great, but these feel and sound so much like an actual theater i sometimes forget where i am! -room filling body from top to bottom - the tweeters and mids feel perfectly balanced to me. nice fat center to the sound, and in a fairly large room there is plenty of volume and “presence” to go around, without feeling like they’re being over driven. -clarity - did i mention the highs? absolutely crisp and wonderfully balanced from top to bottom. bad: -none for me misc: -the copper woofers - you’ll probably either love them or hate them. either way, i keep the speaker grills on so it makes no difference to me. overall: absolutely love these speakers, especially for my home theater. easy 5 stars for me, especially for the price.

I am a big believer that quality sound can be had for those on a tight budget. The Cyber Monday deal Best Buy is running on these is a total NO-Brainer! I was running my (2) Klipsch RF-52 II and decided that this deal was just too good to pass up. I am not regretting this purchase one bit. I am still running my center center RC-52 II, (2) M1 B&W rears, and a SW-110 for low end in an apartment. Power station is an older, yet formidable Yamaha Aventage RX-A700 90 x 7 (only running 5.1) . My concern was powering these bad boys, since they're rated at 150 RMS. However, those that are in the know, understand Klipsch are extremely efficient, and can run off of this power. I got them home tonight and ran them through the paces with various genres. Simply put, how could I be disappointed? The strings, acoustics, mid-range, mid-bass, and added low end was an immersion of sound. There is a break-in period. These will improve over time, and I am counting the days. Next step is pre/pro once I buy a house. In the meantime, I will do my best not to annoy my fellow tenants. Don't walk...RUN! This is the best bang for your buck you could ask for in floor standing! Merry Christmas To Me! One Last note, do NOT skimp on interconnects! All of mine are heavy gauge, oxygen free, shielded, etc. My cable management may look somewhat like a rats nest, but there is zero noise.

I bought and demoed 2 different tower speakers before catching these on sale. I have them in a large room 18x20 and they have no issues effortlessly filling the room with great sound. The highs mids and lows are equally matched with each other. I have them paired with 2 klipsch R120sw subs and R52C center. I’m running them on a Yamaha TSR7850 AV receiver. I have these towers set to small and crossed over at 80hz and let the subs do the heavier work. The entire system is POWERFUL. The only negative that I could possibly mention is occasionally I can hear faint muddiness in the woofers if the instrumentals, bass and, vocals are really busy in the song at high volumes but again that’s at high volumes. (I hate to even mention that because I feel like I got a steal on these) overall I am happy and won’t complain considering these were half off and blew the other 2 wharfedale speakers that I demoed completely away. These speakers are very efficient as my receiver is running at half the temperature as it did with the smaller wharfedales 230’s. Some have complained about the size of these but I enjoy them the look, sound and, power match. If I had to and they were on sale I would buy them again without a second thought. I paid shipping to return the whatfedales because these were that much better!!!!! Thank you Best Buy for having these in the store so I could at least get a taste of what they sounded like at the klipsch demo stand on the shelf.

Let’s make this quick and easy. We are in our late 50’s so hearing the dialog is important. These are mostly used for TV, movies on disk (BR and 4K), and Netflix. We do listen to music some as well. We DO NOT HAVE SURROUND. We listen for now only stereo… These speakers are INCREDIBLE! The base is fantastic even without a sub. The voices on movies and TV are very easy to hear. Sound quality with music is amazing. These are worth every penny that we paid and a real blessing. If you want quality sound, high dynamic range, excellent fidelity (old folks like me know that term), these really deliver! We bought them on sale from Best Buy at $269 each. Best Buy does a great job! For reference, the receiver is Onkyo TX-NR686 God Bless!

Am almost at a week with a pair of these speakers and they sound better by the day with break-in. They look fantastic and are very well put together. While the aesthetics and build quality are strong, the bottom line is, speakers need to sound great - right? Right. And these definitely do. I replaced a pair of big, Cerwin Vega Re38s I've had for many years. I loved those speakers, but the Klipsch replacements are much more accurate and do a better job of separating sounds. I am definitely hearing things from my records I'd never heard before. The reason? Klipsch R-820Fs. I'm suing the same Onkyo TX-NR636 receiver and the speakers have made the system sound even better. I also decided to add a Klipsch RC-62 II center channel and the sound is that much better. Don't get me wrong - the R-820Fs do a fine job as standalone speakers - especially for music. But if you also watch a lot of movies the addition of a center channel will improve the soundstage and make the dialogue more clear. Very, VERY happy with my purchase.

Klipsch has a long standing in the speaker business so my expectations for these speakers was very high. I am very happy to say these speakers blew me away with their design and sound. Listening to music was a great pleasure. The separation of all the sounds was so great. Most speakers tend to flatten everything together and with these Klipsch I could hear everything. Watching movies was the same the separation these speakers can achieve for all of the sounds adds to the atmosphere of the movies soundtrack. It was such a joy to try several different movies and the Klipsch handle it with no problem. Everyday after work I can't wait to get home and so I can listen to these speakers.

Got a great deal on these speakers and I honestly didn't expect much in the way of performance from them. These are honestly amazing speakers for the price. They are pretty power hungry but if you have a halfway decent Amp to power them they sound great. I really mean halfway decent as I am currently powering these with a Denon HEOSAMP that's probably barely pushing 100W RMS per channel. I really enjoy the soundstaging and quality of sound recreation these speakers create. They have surprisingly good separation and imaging. The low frequency response is great! I would definitely say that if you're using these exclusively for music there would not be a need for a dedicated subwoofer. If these are part of your home theater system they do leave a little to be desired for explosions and stuff like that in movies so you'll still want dedicated sub. These are great speakers for the price and I am happily surprised by their quality.

What can I say, I am feeling emotional about this... I had a pair of Bose 401 for the last forever. I purchased a Sony 1080 last month. 2 weeks ago, I finally decided to upgrade my floor speakers and found a great deal on these 820s. I've been listening for about 2 weeks now and I am compelled to leave a review. I am blown away, I can actually hear outstanding imaging, crisp (not harsh) highs and the speakers also have a nice warmth. I am hearing details in songs that I haven't heard before. My system is supported by an older Klipsch Synergy 10" sub. Last week I purchased an received a Klipsch R-52c. Running a 3.1 set-up watching TV was a joy this evening. The center channel carried the voices perfectly while the 820s did their magic on the soundtrack. I've got some ceiling and wall 3650's on order to complete the system. I'm very happy with 820's as my anchors.

These speakers will literally transform your home theater space into a bona fide movie theater. Huge, quality built floor standing speakers with lots of power mean that you won't miss any sonic details. Drive these speakers with a quality receiver and hear your movies, shows and games like you never have before. These speakers have a wonderful frequency response range and can handle deep lows and super clear highs. Paired with other Klipsch Reference Series speakers it creates the ultimate sonic landscape. Build quality is outstanding, these speakers have heft. They feel solid and sound solid. Tones are clear and bright and bass is deep and tight. Remove the grill for an aggressive look thanks to Klipsch's copper colored speaker cones. Music sounds great as well when just using these as standard two channel stereo speakers. and with such high power it means you can add volume for days. These will be my main front of house speakers for years to come.

I would rate these higher if I could as they are outstanding speakers. The sound is amazing and they blow away the Bose 601 series III speakers they are replacing. The clarity, sensitivity and power of these are very impressive as I now hear sounds I never heard before from the Bose and when you crank these things up they deliver outstanding results and rock the house. They look great, provide outstanding sound, vocals, instruments, and bass are just fantastic and they are a great value for the money. You could pay way more for others but there is no need to really. Best Buy should have these set up in the Magnolia room and let them shine against others for a fraction of the cost. I am running these currently with a 26-1/2 year old Yamaha 80w receiver but will be updating soon to a more powerful and modern receiver (Yamaha or Marantz) to take these impressive speakers to a whole new level.

Apparently you either love Klipsch speakers or you hate them but I can't see how anyone could hate these bad boys! They sound great and get louder than I can stand and that's saying something because if I can't hear myself think while I'm listening to music it's not loud enough! I had a H ell of a time getting the equalizer settings on the Onkyo 676 receiver Im using with them but that is the receiver not the speakers even though it doesn't seem like it until you get it right. Had to turn off CEC on my TV because it kept switching the sound format and I wasn't aware and couldn't figure out why I was getting awful sound. If you are having trouble getting the right sound I would make sure all the devices are using the same format several times because that was a major problem I had. Everything is sounding great now and I'll be buying more of these soon.

I was torn between the reference premier line or these reference series speakers. Unfortunately, no one within 500 miles had the RP's available for demo. After speaking with Klipsch directly, I asked if a person watching action movies and listening to music would be able to easily identify the difference between either model. The rep said with the previous model reference series, probably, but with the updates to design in the most recent offering, no. So with that, I ordered the less expensive reference line, and have been completely satisfied. The speakers sound beautiful, provide detail I had never heard before in many songs, and are loud enough to make the neighbors want to move. I cant recommend these enough.

My wife and I had been suffering with TVs, sound bars, car speakers, headphones, you name it, for years while we raised young children. She came to me one day recently and said, "make it right." I used to be a wedding DJ, so I did some research and bought two of these and a high power Sony amp from Best Buy. My goal was to create a traditional two speaker setup like I remembered from childhood with beautiful balance, and like I remembered from DJ work with Mackie SRM 450s. These bad boys delivered. They fill the whole house up with sound on just two channels with no sub. I know some will like the thunder the Klipsch sub would deliver, but if you are looking for simple, balance, clarity, an enjoyment, two of these will meet your needs.

I had Bose before I got these. I got them home plugged them up and thought these don't sound even close to Bose, they sound terrible!! These speakers need about 100 hours to "break in". After the break in period they are just awesome. Every time I listen to them they amaze me. My friends say they are show offs, that is what they are. Just incredible. Break them in, just listen to them that's it. Oh ya by the way the speakers at the store are NOT broken in, don't pay any attention to the sound. Hey Best Buy, let an employee take those floor model speakers home some weekend. They need to be used and abused. The woofers will loosen up. Clay

I bought a couple of these and hooked them up as the front right and left speakers for my surround sound system. I'm sure that these are not the best speakers in the world, but for what I paid, I am almost sure that I couldn't do better. I was watching a show and a hip hop song came on with deep bass. I felt a smile form on my face. I knew that the speakers that I had up there before would not have been able to handle it, but the bass sounded great with these speakers. Long story short, these seem like great speakers handling a wide range of highs and lows, and the sound provided is crystal clear. I do recommend these speakers.

This was a upgrade from my Sony speakers. The Sony speakers sounded really good but lacked the punch I wanted. These went on sale for a little over half price so I went for it. This was more of what I wanted and in the price point I did not mind spending. Not the speakers I want in the long run but really made the media room more of what I was looking for. In the long run I will replace with higher end speakers. The lows are ok, they really are loud but you don’t get the clarity at louder levels. I have them paired with a Martin Logan 800X sub, Definitive Center and Klipch in celing rear speakers. Over all I like the set up but like I said will replace with better speakers once I know how much we use them.

I have been a Klipsch buyer for a while now starting with the Quintet series. Then came the Synergy series with SF-3 towers, SC-3 center channel and, SS-3 surround speakers. Now it is time for an upgrade to the Reference series. I listened to the Reference Premier series as well but didn't hear much difference between the two series so I opted for the Reference series R-820F towers and the R-34C center channel speakers. The new front soundstage is amazing. Clarity and details are crisp and clear. Aggressive looks with the grills off. I will be buying the rest of the series soon to complete my 7.2.2 Dolby Atmos system. Great start so far

These speakers are amazing, they aren't biamp, they have great sound quality and a really good thump to them. I saved a decent amount of money on what was described as excellent condition open box, I read that it was still functional with no scratches or blemishes, simply open box. This was far from the truth. One speaker had major cosmetic damage to the front top and bottom corners. Speaker still works as intended.
